in order to really enjoy any story, you need to get the ending out of the way as soon as possible

Fifty Shades of Grey Vs. Sleeping Beauty Series

A week ago, i was very much curious as to what FiftyShades of Grey is all about. My friends were talking about it online and was recommending it to people, some were even passing the books and ebooks around. So i looked for it online and was able to find an e-copy of it.

I started reading it, thinking it might be one of those supernatural thing again, with either a sexy hot vampire or some hunky wolf running around with six pack and shirtless. Little did i know it was more than taking the shirt off and it does not involve any vampire or any ghoul even!

I was surprised to find out it was not! I did not expect the book to be…that way. All adulterated kind of scenes. But well i read on, actually skipping some of those stuff and was focusing on the story. The first book was fine and i got to say EL James got better in the second and third book. I love how she characterized Christian Grey, i guess he might be one of her fantasy guy, someone who will sweep her off her feet and give her the moon and the stars and him being good in bed is a big bonus lol.

I even posted about it on facebook and a very close friend of mine commented that it was just “a water down version” from her own words, of Anne Rice’s Sleeping Beauty series…wait! Anne Rice has one of this kind of book? With all the sex and erotic stuff? I thought she was just into Vamps and witches too! So i searched the books and read it last weekend and guess what? It is true, Sleeping Beauty is a lot more erotic – it is mind blowing actually and to think it was set in an old era where women were supposed to be demure and shy into sex. Yet Anne Rice took out all the demon and lay it out on the table, explicitly describing everything and you will never imagine she could write something like that. Anne Rice never cease to amaze me, big time. Well i must not be surprised as she wrote the Vampire chronicles and those books are my all time favorite! After reading sleeping beauty, i do not think i could ever tell the story of sleeping beauty to my kids without thinking of these books. And i believe EL James might know of these books too, as from the titles it seems similar, with all the dominant and submissive characters.. i bet she really read the books of Anne Rice.

Though of course i love how the book of EL James ended, she was able to put romance into it, she was able to bring out the good in Christian Grey, not disappointing her readers. She was able to make a happy ending out of it and not hurting Anastasia Steele. So it was a good ending there i love it too, i always love good ending. While with the Sleeping Beauty Series, Anne Rice keeps you on the edge of your seat – always. she makes you think what will happen next with these pseudo masochistic journey  , will Beauty’s journey ends? it makes you think are all of these even possible? Anne Rice Sleeping Beauty was complicated for me, yet the writing style was amazing, the plot is incredible..and the ending was not something you would really expect or predict.

Now tell me what you think of these books? have you read any of Anne Rice’s Sleeping Beauty Chronicles?

Fifty Shades Darker

i started reading this book last night and i could not stop reading until the end of the book… why? well i want to see how it goes and i can say EL James did got better on this one. There were just confusing parts, like the placing of the antagonist.. he like appear in one scene and then appears at the last part..its like the villain is not even there lol..though i know the story entirely just revolves around Christian and Anastasia yet it would be a lot more interesting if the author emphasized a bit more on the villain..and like the part where Christian was gone for awhile, it was a part where she could have stretched out more – it could be like the climax of the story or something. The book felt like it did not have climax… its like just going on and on and on and the reader, me.. just like waiting where the big part will be but the book was just like going on and on and sometimes it gets confusing too. Though i do have to say James did well on this one, i like how she mod Christian’s character, the way she make him look like a good guy with a bad trait and make him adorable and make you imagine him more. But interestingly, i would still move on to the third book tonight and let me see how the story goes.
