in order to really enjoy any story, you need to get the ending out of the way as soon as possible

on death and dying…

on January 21, 2012

Parts of the book Before Ever After talks about death and dying… and ironically, my husband called me last night while i was finishing the book and told me that a close family friend died. He was the father-in-law of my brother-in-law..confusing i know. Anyways, we were surprised by the news and i too was surprised. We just saw him and he is fit and well….and just from the look healthy..

But then again you never know when your time is up. In the book, a character died, Jonathan leaving his wife Rose..and Shelley thought she was grieving and that she should be shown sensitivity..and that Rose was not crying. Often times when there is death, people mourn.. I have been to several interments and i have seen people cried their eyes out. Its like if only all your body fluid is out…. but in the book Rose was not crying and she said that she has every reason to be sad but she does not have any reason to mourn. People grieve when things end and nothing has ended tonight…and one simply gone ahead as we always knew it would have to be. Those words were spot on. I know for a fact when someone i love will die, i would also cry my eyes out but upon reading those words, it is true…why would we cry? if we believe in eternal life….or life after death or being with the Savior after dying why would we mourn? There is no reason to mourn..sadness is there but nothing to mourn about.

Yet people does not comprehend death that way. Death for most becomes an end….rather than a new beginning. This book is an eye opener on death for me. With new perspective on another aspect of life.

Just another thought…
